AAS steamcon

This year, Ask A Scientist is hosting Knoxville’s first STEAMcon event!  This event will highlight and communicate a broad range of features related to Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics. The main goal of STEAMcon is to make STEAM topics relatable, immersive, engaging, and tangible to the public through science communication.

STEAMcon will host local groups from all over East Tennessee to share their particular STEAM-related expertise with the general public. The goal of this event is to showcase how STEAM topics contribute to the community in diverse ways and allow a venue for interactive communication for those from all backgrounds who may be interested in such topics or wish to learn more. Topic examples include brewery science, public health monitoring, sustainable agriculture, architecture and city planning, computer software development, and animal conservation. We encourage you to feature any number of other topics showcasing the diversity of STEAM!

The event will be held at the Knoxville Convention Center July 28th-29th, 2018. This event is free and open to the public, all ages welcome.

Are you interested in presenting as a vendor?

The event will run from 10am-4pm on July 28th and 29th at the Knoxville Convention
Center Exhibit Halls 1 and 2. Booths will be free to vendors and vendors can freely  market their business or organization in the process. Vendors can park in the Locust Street Parking Garage and the Convention Center will open at 7:00 am allowing vendors three hours before start time to allow for set up as needed. A table will be located at the entrance of the Convention Center with volunteers who will assist vendors in setup procedures. Vendors can leave items at the Center overnight and items should be removed at the end of the event. Outside vendors may not serve alcohol; however, a bar is available where Convention Center staff may serve samples of your alcoholic  beverages, if applicable to you. We would prefer interactive or tangible booth material
rather than just purely informational (flyers/brochures/leaflets); however, the material used is at the vendor’s discretion in what would be the best way to communicate the related STEAM topics. More details will be provided as we get closer to the date and please feel free to contact us with any questions or inquiries about the nature of the event or the types of displays we are looking for. We very much look forward to hearing from you.
